If this is a question that you sometimes find yourself pondering, today’s tips post will hopefully hold some insight into why you may not be getting as much traffic to your blog (or website) as you would like, alongside how to fix it.

You Haven’t Been Implementing SEO

The best way to get your blog found online is via Search Engine Optimisation, otherwise known as SEO.

By implementing SEO practices into your blogging schedule, you will not only help to have your blog shown in relevant search results and reach your desired audience. But you can also improve your blog offering, increase traffic and find out the best times to create and share new content with your readers. As well as seeing what content is most popular and who is linking to and showing you some blog love too (this is just one of many advantage of practising SEO).

I could go on for this whole post, but I will stop here. All that needs to be said is if you are not implementing any SEO on your blog, then you should start doing so now.

You are not making the most of social media

Are you sharing your posts on social media? If not, then you are missing out on a great opportunity to get new traffic to your site and alert people that you have published a new post.

If you are new to blogging, the best way to start sharing your posts on social media is to use relevant industry hashtags – and trust me, there are plenty of them. For example, #fbloggers for fashion bloggers, #bbloggers for beauty bloggers, #lblogger for lifestyle bloggers, and the list goes on!

Your Blog isn’t mobile friendly

In the mobile age, if your blog isn’t mobile friendly (aka. responsive) then it is less likely to show in mobile search results. Also, when visiting your blog from a mobile device, if people are unable to view your content properly or navigate your site, they are likely to just click off.

Your Imagery is lacking

As superficial as it may sound, imagery is a large portion as to why people are or are not reading your blog. As they say: “A picture is worth a thousand words”, or perhaps in the case of blogging, “a thousand visitors”.

Why not try switching up the quality of imagery on your blog, either by shooting new content or making sure your images are the correct size, so they are not distored to viewers. Look to Pinterest and Tumblr for inspiration and to find a photography style you love and stick to it (as this helps to create a brand for your blog too).

You are not asking for subscribers

Is your blog on Bloglovin? Does your blog have an RSS feed? Can people follow your blog by email?

The answer to the above is most likely to be yes. But are you letting visitors to your site know this?

The best way to obtain returning users is to offer them a medium in which they can follow your blog. So add that Bloglovin widget to your sidebar or the bottom of your blog posts, have a visible email or RSS subscription sign up / feed showing on your blog and shout about it on your social media channels.

P.S An example and shameless plug. You can follow my blog on Bloglovin here, add my RSS Feed URL, or sign up with your email using the option at the end of this blog post.
