Tips For Finding Glasses To Suit Your Style

Finding the perfect pair of glasses frames, can be as difficult as finding the perfect pair of jeans. With lots of options to consider from size to frame shape, colour and brand. Looking for a new pair of ‘stylish’ glasses frames can be a somewhat daunting task. Especially so when you are ordering them online and don’t have a scooby how they will look on you.

Well fear not! As a glasses wearer for the past few years, I am here to help with my top tips for finding glasses frames to suit your style, and your face!

What Shape Is Your Face?

Point number one is a pretty obvious one. If, like me, you have a rather thin face than opting for 60mm width frames is not going to be an option. For example, knowing what sunglasses suit your face is a great starter when it comes to finding prescription frames. As, you already have an inkling as to what does and doesn’t suit your face shape.

This online guide will help to determine your face shape and the best shape frames to suit you.

What Colours Are Prominent In Your Wardrobe?

Nowadays, there is a technicolour of choices when it comes to what colour frames you will go for. So, when choosing a pair of glasses frames to suit your style, it is important to take your wardrobe into consideration. For example, if you never wear browns or neautrals, then a tortoiseshell or brown pair of glasses may not be for you. If you love minimal styles, perhaps black, white or clear frames would work. Then for the more adventurous, if you love wearing bright colours, why not opt for this in your eyewear too!

If you are buying your first pair of glasses, I would recommend going for more of a basic colour – such as black, grey or metallics. As these are more likely to go with more items in your wardrobe. Then, as you add to your frames collection you can experiment with colours. Which, is why this time I added a a ‘honey’ tortoiseshell pair of neutral London Retro Bromley Glasses to my eyewear collection. As I already have black, clear, white and grey glasses frames.

Consider your Skin Tone, Hair and Eye Colour

It is also important to bear in mind your skin tone hair colour and eye colour when picking the perfect pair of glasses frames. As you want them to compliment these elements and not stick out like a sore thumb. Again, from clothing and make-up you will already know what tones work with your skin, hair and eye colour.

What is your style?

I think it comes across as pretty obvious now that I am more of a minimal girl. If II am to wear brights, they are usually in small dosages and the majority of my wardrobe is basic colours. So, it would probably look a little out of place if I suddenly started wearing bright red round glasses. So although you may be drawn to something a little different than what you would usually go for. Try to find a pair of glasses frames that embody your style from “H” to “T” (Head to Toe that is, if you don’t watch America’s Next Top Model!)

Try Before You Buy

For the best deals on glasses frames, I always think that shopping online is the answer. Not only is there more choice, but prices are generally better too. The only downside being, that you are unable to try the glasses on first in some cases. And you may not have a clue which frames suit your face and style. But fear not! Online sites such as Glasses Direct offer a ‘Free Home Trial’ service, which solves this problem for you.

I would definitely say, always try before you buy so you know what suits you and you aren’t left feeling disappointed.
