The Refinery Spinningfields, Manchester
On Sunday James and I headed into Manchester for a brunching session at The Refinery Spinningfields, which is based in the modern and trendy Spinningfields area, just off Deansgate. I have been wanting to visit this beautiful restaurant and cocktail bar for a while – I’m sure you can see why from the stunning interior, let alone the food – so a big thank you to Roche Communications for the invite.

The Food
For starters, James and I went for the same dish. As we can’t resist a cooked scotch egg. This is our favourite gastro pub starter and we both agreed that it was the best we’ve tasted yet. If you are a fan of runny eggs then you would surely love this stater too. Or, due to the size of it you could even have it as a light bite or small lunch! Other starters I was eyeing up on the menu included calamari and mushrooms on sourdough.
For mains, as it was a brunch menu, all day breakfast was available. But, keeping to true Sunday style I went for the half chicken roast. And when it came there was a plethora or tasty carrots, parsnips and cabbage with roast potatoes, pigs in blankets and a mammoth Yorkshire pudding to accompany my succulent chicken. Alongside plenty of gravy, bread sauce (I think) and cranberry sauce too. I don’t know about you, Â but I was in condiment heaven!
When it came to desserts, James and I were so comfortably full that we went for coffee instead. But, what stood out to me the most was their creme brulee. Now on to the cocktails…

The Refinery Spinningfields Cocktails
If like me, you can’t resist a good cocktail, then The Refinery Spinningfields definitely has to be the next haunt to visit on your city hit list. I spotted that they even have blankets for their outside sitting area, so we will definitely be revisiting in the evening to see what the Friday / Saturday night atmosphere is like. The whole vibe reminded me of a cool and trendy New York bar, which is what I loved the most about our visit to The Refinery Spinningfields, aside from the good food, cocktails and company.
To wet our appetites the cocktails we went for and would recommend were:
Mojitocolada
Koko kanu rum, pineapple, mint, lime & vanilla sugar
This is a pineapple inspired mojito, which reminded me of being back in Mexico where Mango Mojitos were our favourite drink. Served tall, this drink is refreshingly fruity. It’s also a great palette cleanser and thirst quencher.
Porn Star
Cariel vanilla vodka, passion fruit & prosecco
A porn star martini is both mine and James’s favourite cocktail. So, of course we had to go for one of these each. If you haven’t tried one before, it’s a must. But, should you get addicted don’t blame moi!
S’mores
Bacardi oro rum, marshmallow syrup, lime, amaretto, egg white
I was drawn to the S’mores cocktail due to the addition of marshmallow syrup. Surprisingly tangy from the addition of lime, if you fancy trying something different to an espresso martini then this cocktail is for you. It will also give you major Instagram brownie points too!

My Brunching Outfit
In preparation for lots of walking and dining in my upcoming trip to NYC, I practiced my layering skills and comfortable / smart styling for our trip into town. I haven’t had many opportunities to style my Balenciaga trainers yet, so now was the perfect opportunity. Worn with straight leg trousers from Jigsaw, my trusty Gucci belt I went for a casual t-shirt and leather jacket combination. Layered underneath my gorgeous new Jigsaw wool coat from their new Spring coats collection, which will be coming to the big apple with me.
I will be filming a vlog and a lookbook whilst I am in New York, so if you are not already you can find me on YouTube here, where you can click on subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss these uploads. You can also follow along my New York trip on Instagram, through my shoppable outfit posts and Instagram stories – Follow me on Instagram here @lurchhoundloves.
SHOP MY OUTFIT
Of course, I couldn’t miss a toilet selfie opportunity for my Instagram could I, lol! But seriously, even the toilets are an interior mavens dream!
