Today’s topic is a tricky one: How to take your look from day to night? Whether its from the office to evening drinks or for a weekend away and you have limited packing space. Working out how to update an outfit to take you from daytime to the evening can often be a tricky feat.

My top two tips to start with are to pick a simple base layer and consider your footwear carefully. I chose a slip dress for my outfit base from Zara – Topshop have a similar one that you can get your hands on  – as it is an on trend item that is perfect for comfy daywear or a night out. And then for my shoes I considered a practical winter daytime shoe with a chunky ankle boot and a versatile pair of mules that can be worn in the office or out for drinks. I have collaborated with EGO on todays post to share both killer pairs of affordable, on trend shoes with you.

OUTFIT 1 – SLIP DRESS DAYTIME LOOK

To make a slip dress casual, I love to wear a hoody or long sleeved top layered on top. You might have seen me doing this in my Bilbao outfits post with the same dress but this time in green! To emphasise your waist I would recommend opting for a cropped style, where possible. I paired a lettuce long sleeve top from Urban Outfitters with my slip dress and I am obsessed with this look! To bring in the daytime element I picked out this super cool pair of Mosley chunky boots from EGO, which remind me of this Gucci pair here. They have a lumberjack vibe and fit perfectly with the masculine boot trend.

OUTFIT 2 – SLIP DRESS NIGHTIME LOOK

The slip dress was made for the evening! To smarten up my look for the night time I would remove my top layer and replace with a blazer in a contrasting colour. I have been obsessed with this Marks and Spencer blazer from my last outfit post, that I had to style it again for this look. To stay with a sophisticated take on an evening slip dress look I chose these sassy mock snake skin mules from EGO, which are currently only £15 ladies! I love a pointed shoe for a classy vibe and would equally dress these heels down with jeans and a white t-shirt for the daytime, making them a versatile shoe that can also be taken from day to night!
