HOW TO WEAR OVER THE KNEE BOOTS IN THE DAY
If you are going to invest in any pair of boots this season, they need to be over the knee boots. Although I know some of you may be put off by a certain ‘Pretty Woman’ connotation that over the knee boots seem to hold, but if worn correctly you can really make a statement and you won’t have to worry about passing any street corners (if you know what I mean!).
In today’s mammoth post I am styling a pair of Ted & Muffy real suede over the knee boots, which are absolutely stunning. You may previously know the brand as DUO, but they have re-branded and done a bit of an overhaul of their styles, which in my eyes has made them more desirable. I mean, just look at these boots! Sticking to their original ethos, they still provide different widths for your feet and also your calf sizes when it comes to boots, which means you always get the perfect fit. So although they may be more pricey than styles on the high street, they fit so well and the quality is definitely worth the money.
For those of you looking to spend less money on a pair of over the knee boots than the £300 mark, I have linked below for you my favourite pairs from the high street for you to have a browse, starting from as little as £33!
Shop My Favourite High Street Over The Knee Boots
Once you have purchased your favourite pair of over the knee boots, how do you style them for wearing in the day?
Layer Over Skinny Jeans
Although I love wearing over the knee boots with an a-line of flippy skirt, for during the day I feel more comfortable walking around in my over the knee boots layered over a paid of skinny jeans. I think this look is so chic and it ups the glam factor of any plain old outfit.
Play With Lengths
As over the knee boots draw attention to your legs, I like to balance out lengths by wearing a longer top when styling with skinny jeans. In fact, I am actually wearing a dress as a top here. I find that this trick also has an additional slimming effect on your thighs and works well with pretty much every body shape. It is also great if you are concious of your crotch when wearing rather tight jeans.
Style With Faux Fur
With faux fur set to be a HUGE trend again this Autumn / Winter, it is the perfect combination for styling with your over the knee boots. I mean, how snug and cosy does this Biba faux fur coat I am wearing look? When paired with the over the knee boots I feel ready for Winter in this outfit. Let The Boots Do The Talking
As with most outfits I like to let just one or two items take center stage. As over the knee boots are such an attention grabbing item to add to your wardrobe, I would suggest to either stick to muted tones or a matching colour palette and to keep accessories to a minimum. Due to the low V of my top I have worn with a neck scarf and a little choker to cover up my chest area, completing the look with my new Bedford Michael Kors bag from Tessuti. Which, btw, is the perfect size bag to also double up as a large purse, as it even has a card holder / pouch in it that is great for storing your spare coins.
