A Coffee Drinker’s Guide To Spring Neutrals

When I thought that Spring was well and truly on its way…
We’ve been hit with a cold blast of snow storms and -6 degree temperatures at the end of February; where are you Spring? Yet here I am styling up a LWD (little white dress) and despite the latest weather set back I have been preparing my wardrobe for Spring by adding more neutrals to my closet. As an avid black coffee drinker and a clumsy klutz I thought I would share my tips for keeping your neutral outfits bright and shiny for Spring!
In the past I have been put off from light coloured clothes due to my ability to get marks on just about anything without knowing how they even got there – just ask James as I am always getting blamed for any slight mark or scuff at home or even on his car! But this year I have been drawn to lighter hues in the aims of achieving a more monochromatic wardrobe and I am for once in my life loving head to toe neutral outfits.

Dear Fellow Coffee Drinkers, You Can Wear Neutral Outfits Too
Avoid walking near any walls or wearing heels on your coffee run.
Hold your coffee at arms length at ALL times.
Put a towel over your lap or a napkin in your top whilst drinking your coffee.
Drink your coffee through a straw to avoid excess spillages.
Carry hand sanitiser around at all times – this will be your saviour for any coffee mishaps and stains!
Hand Sanitiser Will Become Your Best Friend
If you read my last blog post or follow me on Instagram – @charlottebuttrick – the Topshop jacket in cream I was wearing literally lasted two minutes before I spilled coffee on it at work. I swear I am a walking talking disaster at all times! In sheer panic I Googled how to get the stain out and saw hand sanitiser mentioned a few times.
I can confirm that this trick works!
Coat the stain with hand sanitiser and leave for at least 10 minutes to soak in and then wash the coffee stained item of clothing to remove. As I was in work I didn’t do this in the washing machine at the time and just washed it off in the sink, hung it on the radiator and abracadabra like magic it had disappeared – PHEW!

If like I was you have been putting off wearing neutrals for fear of spilling something on yourself then have no fear (any longer). Coffee lovers and clumsy Klutz’s alike can also wear neutrals all Spring long!
