Chic Party Outfit Ideas For The Modern Woman
3 PARTY OUTFIT IDEAS WITH CLOSET LONDON
Party season is here! This week I have my work’s Christmas party and then a festive night out with my girls. Followed by Christmas Eve, New Years and nights in between, so now is the perfect time to start planning your party outfits. In today’s post I have teamed up with Closed London, to share with you three party outfits that I have styled with my top three picks from their collection. I think their clothes have an air of sophistication about them, making them chic party outfit ideas for the modern woman. I would love to know which of the three looks are your favourite, so don’t forget to let me know in the comments below.
The Sequin Tunic Top
For the woman who dislikes party dresses.
Sometimes I don’t feel like wearing a party dress or a jumpsuit. On those occasions, I love to wear a pair of tight fitting trousers, either leather trousers, skinny jeans or some jazzy leggings. To make them look chic and also to feel comfortable throughout the evening, I like to pair them with a long line shirt, top or tunic. So, when I came across this sequin tunic blouse on the Closet London website, I knew I had to include it in today’s party outfit inspiration post.
To complete the look I would throw on my favourite pair of high heeled court shoes or strap sandals to elongate the legs and make them appear slimmer. Finishing off with my mini Saint Laurent WOC bag and a slick of my favourite nude NYX Lingerie matte lip cream in shade 06 ‘push up’. I’m ready to party!
The Velvet Wrap Dress
A Versatile Wardrobe Threat
Velvet is a material to be lusted after this Winter. Luxurious, soft and a fun way to add texture to your party outfits. You will find every item imaginable in velvet this season from skirts, to camisoles to suits, shoes, bags and dresses. Which is why I decided to go for this dark blue velvet dress by Closet London, as it makes the perfect Christmas party piece. Whether you are going to a suit and tie ball or out for dinner and drinks, this dress will keep you comfortable whilst remaining in the party outfit spotlight.
With it’s elegant wrap over detailing and a good midi dress length, you can even get away without wearing tights with this number. Or, if you were feeling adventurous this dress looks great with over the knee boots too and a leather jacket slung over the top for a chic dressed up / dressed down vibe. Making this velvet party dress a versatile weapon in your wardrobe.
The Sequin Jumpsuit
Feminine vibes with a masculine edge.
Last, but by no means least, is perhaps my favourite of the bunch. This gorgeous black sequin tailored jumpsuit, complete with pockets! Jumpsuits can sometimes be tricky ones and this seems to fit like a glove. There is no sagging or bagginess in the crotch and the bum doesn’t look like a pair of “s**t catchers”. The definition of this, from our family vocabulary, is the comparison to jogging bottoms when they stretch and sag in the derrière.
I love the masculine edge that jumpsuits have, whilst still remaining feminine and god damn sexy (in a subtle way). With the addition of sequins, this look takes the party playsuit to the next level whilst remaining chic, cool and collected. If you prefer a jumpsuit or trouser two piece for your party outfits then this one is definitely for you. Don’t you think?
Which chic party outfit is your favourite?
See. Party outfits don’t have to be all boobs and bum. Not that I am against showing off your best assets in a revealing figure hugging number. But gone are the days of my early twenties and as I am hitting thirty in February, I have found that my style has become more demure – I won’t say conservative – over the past couple of years. Rather than seeing a party as an opportunity to flash some flesh all of the time. My party outfit style has become more refined and about finding interesting garment shapes, or fabrics, which will create a classic yet modern party outfit.
