When Brands & Celebrities Collaborate For Charity
Longines & Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet re-issue a watch at the Longines Museum in Saint-Imier to raise awareness and understanding of the autism spectrum.
Kate Winslet, is a well respected British actress who has four Golden Globe Awards, An Emmy, An Academy Award and a Grammy under her belt. Alongside three BAFTA Awards for her unforgettable performance in the Titanic. Using her position to support a great cause – which I always find to be an admiring quality in celebrities – Kate set up the non-profit organisation, the Golden Hat Foundation, in 2010 to raise awareness and change the public perception of people on the autism spectrum.
Teaming up with the Swiss watch making experts Longlines, for whom she has been an ambassador for six years now. Kate visited their head office in Saint-Imier and the Longines Museum for the first time on the 18th of May and selected a watch that will be re-issued for the benefit of the Golden Hat Foundation, with proceeds of the sales going to her charitable organisation.
During her visit to the Longlines Museum, Kate met with employees and immersed herself in the head office’s culture and said these few words:
“I was delighted to learn that Longines is so in touch with its rich history, from which it draws inspiration for creating new works of art that adhere to its values. I am deeply grateful to Longines for the support they have shown for the Golden Hat Foundation, an organization that is dear to my heart, by re-issuing the watch that I have chosen today.”
“It makes me incredibly proud to be able to contribute to raising public awareness of the situation that face individual with autism. I believe that these individuals will greatly benefit from the possibility of learning to communicate, of receiving academic training and of developing real social relationships.”
The watch that Kate chose to benefit the Golden Hat Foundation was in fact from their Flagship collection, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2017.
The watch will be re-issued during the course of the year, and the proceeds of the sales of this watch will go to the Golden Hat Foundation.
