Where Have You Been?

You may have noticed that I have been somewhat distant from my blog recently. I tried to schedule posts and social media updates the best I could whilst getting married in Cyprus at the start of June, returning to the UK for two weeks and the jetting off to Cancun, Mexico for my honeymoon.

I have now been back in the UK for over a week and I joined a gym to better my fitness – after doing workouts from home with Results With Lucy, and you can read my post on that here – but have spent most of my time sleeping off jet lag, fighting a cold and enjoying the joyful task of unpacking, washing and ironing (it literally never stops!). I am starting to slowly get back into a routine and have even scheduled in three nights this week to edit photos to try and get my blogging game back on, after I spent Sunday eating ice cream and catching up with all of the Love Island episodes I missed whilst away (saddo, I know).

The point of this loooong as hell intro is to:

1. Explain my recent online absence

2. And to say that the best way to keep up to date with my outfits and daily life is by following my Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat (I am trying to be more consistent with SC as I upgraded my phone tariff for more 4G and got a snazzy iPhone 6 Plus for Instagram photos) if you aren’t already, you can connect with me below or my clicking the icons in my header bar.

And, now on to today’s post: FINALLY

Whilst I was in Mexico I managed to snap just a couple of my outfits. And as I spent most of my time in a bikini by the pool, or on the beach – a US fitness instructor even commented on my ‘cute’ bikini collections – I thought I would share my favourite ways to ‘cover up’ whilst on holiday that will also have you beach ready for your beau or a mystery man – who doesn’t love a good holiday romance!

Colour Co-ordinate Your Cover Ups

Before going on holiday, I have to admit that I can be a bit of a pre-planner when it comes to outfits. To save taking loads of clothes I won’t wear I tend to try on and take photos of looks I want to wear whilst on holiday. Then, when away I can look through my phone photo album and see what I have to wear and I can pick an outfit. This doesn’t just stop at my day and evening outfits. It also stands for my swimwear.

When packing my bikinis, I pick out the cover ups that will co-ordinate with their patterns, or the colours. So you don’t arrive at your destination to find that your prints and colours give your tequila hangover a run for it’s money.

Pack Versatile Cover Up Styles

I like to try and pack a couple of cover ups that I can also turn to as evening jackets or turn into a dress. Which, is great whilst on holiday as you are restricted to what is in your suitcase. My favourite cover up styles that I pack for versatility are: SHIRTS and KIMONOS.

A shirt cover up (I usually go for sheer styles) can be worn with your bikini, over a dress as a jacket or on it’s own as a dress itself. Kimono styles are great alternatives for an evening through on, when it gets a bit cooler but is still too warm for a denim jacket or other styles.

Add Accessories

No beach look would be complete without a few accessories! Sunglasses are of course your best bet and if you can add in any matching jewellery – from minimal to out there – then you are onto a winner for a beach chic look. For our honeymoon my favourite go tos were my Be Kapten sunglasses and watch, as I loved their cool and nautical vibes.

Go For Cover Ups in Prints and Colour

Now. For me to say: “pack those prints and bright colours”, is a bit out of character from my usual minimal vibed outfits. But when you are on holiday you want to show off that tan and co-ordinate your looks to match the sun filled days and colourful cocktails.

The best way to jazz up a black bikini, which in my opinion if the most flattering and chic swimwear colour to go for. Is to add some colour, or an interesting print to the mix. Which is why I loved my holiday combination of my Swimwear 365 bikini with my sheer long shirt dress from Little Mistress. The black bikini is also a great choice for a daydate – think of an LBD, but with a holiday twist on it.

If You’re Looking For A Summer Romance or Making Holiday Friends

Speaking of dates. If you were looking to meet someone whilst on holiday then you may be interested in hearing about Badoo, which is an app that allows you to find and connect with people around you. But, it isn’t only a dating app, as you can find and talk to local people to find out the best places to visit whilst you are on holiday. Or, you could even use it to connect with people that are also holidaying in the same resort.

It is always nice to make holiday friends, especially if you are travelling just as a couple. Whilst we were honeymooning in Mexico we met and made friends with some lovely and fun couples from USA and Canada, who made the trip even more memorable. Hopefully when we go back to the same resort for our anniversary we will bump into them again and carry on where we left off; with too many alcoholic shots!
