Autumn Work Wardrobe Updates
In collaboration with Dorothy Perkins
It’s officially Autumn! So now is the perfect time (if you haven’t already) to start updating your work wardrobe with key transitional pieces for the new season. For my 9-5 (well, 8-4 actually) we are allowed to wear what we desire to the office, but I prefer to keep my outfits on the smart / casual side in loose fitting garments, so I can feel comfortable at my desk all day: I am all about that comfort!
Styling my key ‘workwear wardrobe’ pieces from the current Dorothy Perkins collection, I thought i’d share some of my tips when it comes to transitional dressing for the office in Autumn.
REPLACE YOUR BLAZER WITH A SLEEVELESS JACKET
A longline sleeveless jacket, in a wool composition, is the perfect layering piece for your Autumn work wardrobe. Whether you are wearing just a shirt underneath or a shirt / jumper combination a sleeveless longline jacket is chic and will help to keep your core warm.
THIN KNITS WORK
I don’t know about you, but my office has a tendency to be too cold or too warm. So I need to find my happy medium for my workwear wardrobe. So, I would suggest thin staple knits rather than chunky sweaters. Again, layering if your best friend in the office, so a think knit can be worn on it’s own or easily layered over your favourite shirt.
STICK TO NEUTRALS
I prefer to go for neutral colours for my work wardrobe. Purely because if you opt for subtle colours – think white / black / beiges / navy – the practically everything in your workwear wardrobe should go together. Not everyone wants to spend the world on their clothes for work, so if you can build a capsule workwear wardrobe you can mix up your looks each day without putting a dent in your bank account.
TAILORED TROUSERS ARE YOUR GO TO WORKWEAR STAPLE
Nothing screams ‘comfy in the office’ more than a good fitting pair of tailored trousers. To update your office look for Autumn, add a pair of cropped wide leg trousers or culottes.
AVOID HIGH HEELS
For me, high heels are the devil in the office and to avoid breaking my ankles I prefer to wear a pair of chic flats or a block heel – because let’s just say I am prone to accidents. Or, if like me there are more casual vibes in your office, the white trainer is my favourite go to.
