How To Afford Designer Shoes

Tips, Tricks and Discount Websites For Saving Money on Designer Shoes

On Sunday I shared a video over on my YouTube channel on how to save money on designer shoes alongside my designer footwear collection. Unless it is a shoe style that will forever be full price, I will always buy my designer footwear in the sale. So, I thought I would also share my top tips in this blog post alongside my video, which is embedded below…

Why I Buy Designer Shoes

I have size 8 feet. Big size eight feet that are wide and also have bunions (TMI, I know). On the high street I find that shoes are becoming increasingly smaller. Also, retailers such as Topshop and ASOS only seem to stock a lower level of size 8’s and 9’s, which means that sizes tend to sell out rather fast unless you buy them when they are new in. I have always been jealous of my Mum’s size 3 feet and her ability to fit in kids shoes for cheaper and to also have more choice when it comes to general selection of shoes and in the sales.

Which is why I buy designer. Because I find that their sizes are more generous and accommodating to my feet. They are more comfortable and they fit my feet correctly. So I would rather have less shoes that fit well than lots of high street shoes that I can’t get my feet into properly. Although, don’t get me wrong. I still LOVE the high street when I CAN get my feet into them.

Top Tips For Saving Money On Designer Shoes

TIP 1

First you need to find the shoes that you want to invest in. Look online at blogs, in magazines at the latest trends and brand lookbooks. Think about what shoes will suit your style and you’re likely to wear.

TIP 2

Are they a staple style? For example it is highly unlikely that Gucci loafers and Balenciaga Race Runners will go in the sale (which is why I paid full price for them). If they never seem to go in the sale and are brought out by the brand every year, chances are as a staple style you won’t see them drop in price.

TIP 3

Go in store and try the shoes you have your eye on. This is so you can see whether you like them, if they fit properly and what size you need to buy when you spot them in the sale.

TIP 4

Subscribe to luxury retailers email  lists. So as soon as the sales start you will have an email to alert you. Then you can go to the site and search the shoe style in the search bar to see if the style and your shoe size is available.

TIP 5

Don’t take your expensive shoes to Timpsons. From my past experience they have damaged the leather on my Gucci loafers, which I was distraught about. Try to take them to another specialist or ask them to be careful with your babies!
