5 Secrets To Perfect Summer Hair
“IT’S THE HUMIDITY!”
HOW TO STOP YOUR HAIR DOING A ‘MONICA’ ON HOLIDAY
I feel like it has been a long time since I sat down and wrote a beauty post. In fact, I think it was my review of Mehron makeup, which you can read here. So, to make up for the lack of beauty tips or inspiration that I have not provided, I will be putting together three posts across the next three weeks on my Summer beauty essentials from hair to highlighting and that all important beach body. Starting today with products that keep my barnet on point throughout the Summer months..
My Summer Hair Secrets
I definitely prefer the more laid back look when it comes to Summer hair. Think messy bed hair, loose waves and styles that look as you have effortlessly walked out of the sea to let you hair dry in the sunshine. When in reality, if I actually did that I would have a head of frizz to challenge Monica’s humid hair from their trip to Barbados in Friends!
To keep my hair in a perfect beach hair state, I will be sharing with you the 5 secrets and products behind my Summer hair. Some which are new to myself and others which are old faithfuls. You also may have noticed that my extensions have now been removed for my wedding, so I have been having a play with creating my favourite messy looks using these products.
Tresemme Beauty-Full Volume
Since getting my hair extensions taken out, I feel like my hair is lacking the volume that I had become used to from having double the amount of hair attached to my head. So I have been looking to products that promise full body and thicker hair. To be honest, Tresemme have hit the nail on the head, as conditioning always leave my hair soft, but flat as hell. Now that I am conditionining my ends before applying shampoo, I have noticed a considerable difference in the thickness my hair seems to have. Can I get a hail Mary!
Wonder Spray, 10 in 1 by Mark Hill*
From prep, to style and finish. This miracle bottle does everything. The name makes a big statement, but I find this to be a great little product for getting your curls or waves to stay in place (especially if you are not brushing them out). Try using this instead of protection spray before applying the curlers to your hair. I will spray each section as I go and it really does help your curls to stay in place. Also, if you need some extra hold or a root lift, applying this product with a little back-combing goes a long way!
Elipse Hair Tongs by Mark Hill*
I prefer to curl my hair with tongs rather than straighteners. I just find that they give my hair a bit more bounce and there is more to play with. To create my Summer beach hair, I like to take thick sections of hair from the top of my head, hold for around 5 seconds each and then pin them up to cool. I then take them out after doing my makeup and brush them out for a loose (effortless looking) wave. I love these hair tongs by Mark Hill, due to the shape of the barrel for adding volume and body to my curls and the fact they are only £29.99!
L’Oréal Elnett Lumière Supreme Hairspray
I have to admit, I have always been one to rely on the cheapest hairspray that I can find in Tesco or Boots. And to be honest, until now I have never really used hairspray as I thought it didn’t agree with my hair and just made it a nightmare to manage afterwards. But, I seem to have been missing a trick. Paying more for your hairspray really does make a difference: L’Oreal Elnett to the rescue, thanks Cheryl. This hairspray holds my style without making my hair feel heavy or crispy and it even adds some extra shine too – bonus!
The Tangle Teezer
Now I am not telling you anything new here, and you have probably all got one somewhere in your bathroom or handbag. The ever faithful Tangle Teezer! This is my brush of choice when I brush out my curls, as I find it keeps my hair sleek and smooth, rather than turning it into a Monica-esque frizzy mess. All hail the Tangle Teezer, if you haven’t got one: where have you been?
And there we have my 5 secrets to beach worthy Summer hair! Have you got any go to products you use on your barnet? If so, let me know in the comments below, or tweet me @CharlotteLewis_, as I always love testing out new products!
